So I ran out of fixative in the miffle of a couple of pastel works and was wondering which addorable hairspray would be a good substitute? $10, $15 and $20 adds up to more than I can afford. Sounds silly but eventually I'll be able to emoticon If not a specific one, then what to look for as far as ingrediants would be great emoticon  Thanks very much emoticon I'm working on a piece to raise money for cancer research also so the sooner the better emoticon

Aquanet is nice, but the new formula causes the paper to curl... Use Gesso or something to keep the paper flat.

Hairspray in general is not advisable for pastel paintings if you intend to sell the work, because the shellac will eventually yellow.  Best to save up for some fixative!    I always recommend SPECTRAFIX.  Not sure of cost, depends where you live, but it is brilliant, NON TOXIC stuff.
